I’ve been using Pinkkis as my online identity since way back. It was around these times as far as I can remember;
Nine Lives is the twelfth studio album by American hard rock band Aerosmith, released in 1997 (see 1997 in music). The album was produced by Aerosmith and Kevin Shirley, and was the band’s first studio album released by Columbia Records since 1982’s Rock in a Hard Place. It peaked at #1 at the Billboard Charts. One of the album’s singles, “Pink”, won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
I still love the song. :) I know what it’s like when you are young and the first thing you think of sticks and you just steal it for yourself. After using Pink and ‘Pink for a while, it turned out that Pink was already a well known Demoscene artist, the scene into which i was being sucked into, it turned into Pinkkis, which is basically just adding a few letters into it to make it more pronounceable in Finnish. Also when I got older, I realized it’s other meaning. ;)
Alternatives Pinssis, Pinque, Kinkkis and Pinkku have been and are still in use on IRC, tough Pinkkis is still the nick used, others are just used in conversation. Yes, conversation, my friends call me that even in the real world, not just where the magical ones and zeros travel.

Recently, with the rise of Irc-galleria (a sort of Myspace in Finland, used far longer than myspace has existed) and the general growth in the population of dumb 12 year old internet chicks, Pinkkis, with it’s connection to the color pink, it’s getting harder and harder to get the account name Pinkkis in anything where they join, unless I get there first. Hence pinque and Thepinkkis are also acceptable variants in usernames.
I don’t know how come I didn’t think of registering the domain earlier, and also was kind of surprised that it’s still available, but then I saw it and grabbed it. There’s another good point, it’s letting me move my personal stuff here, and I can do something more fun with the other domain, Onevice.com.
