oh so this is jetlag

I never really believed in jetlag. But then again I never flew to the other side of the globe before. Going to LA wasn’t as bad, as while the trip took long, and also longer than the trip back, we arrived at the hotel close to midnight and went straight to bed. So that was all good.

Coming back though, it was horrible. It took several days to get over it, if I’m even over it now. Not to mention the fact that I probably got some nice little virus floating around from the 300 people in the plane, and I don’t feel that good at the moment. Thank god it’s now weekend again and I can try and relax and sleep and drink plenty of warm tea.

Over all, the trip was amazing. I’m finding it a bit hard to write stuff about it now, partly because there’s a lot of stuff I can’t talk about, and partly because it’s all still like a big ball of cluttered yarn in my head. Maybe when I get the video footage done and I can relive some of the moment and locations, I can write something more down. Or maybe the video will be enough. Anyway, that’s gonna be over at Onevice.com once it’s available.

There would have probably been some video released already, but this trip and technology just didn’t seem to mix well. First of all the wireless internet at the hotel, while free, was the crappiest quality of connection that I’ve used. There was no way to use a flash uploader for a 60 meg video to Vimeo using that connection. Then when I got home, one of the hard drives seems to be broken, and I still need to get the backup from Kris again, before I can start working on it. But hopefully that will be soon.

For now, I gotta go make some Warm Soothing Tea [TM] and unload my clean fresh american tee-shirts that I bought and now washed.

Meh, it’s open

Not as grand as I had plans for, but time was running out, as I needed it to be done before I leave for California. So there it is now, nothing much changed from since I’ve been talking about it design wise, but there’s the actual content there now. I wanted to have a cool opening video, and I thought my idea was good. I just didn’t have the time or the clarity of mind during the night to make it happen. Perhaps I’ll hang on to it and do it later.

Anyway, it’s time to go get some rest soon, and then tomorrow is all about packing and preparing. Oh yeah, and new I need to make sure all my gadgets are fully charged for the trip.

They are soon here

Indeed, both of them. The trip to california is now a week away, sweeeeet! Also, I’ll have it open before, lacking content, the new Onevice.com is opening very soon, and hopefully I get my stuff sorted out so I can post a few clips from the trip as it happens.

My laptop is going to have a hard time handling 1080p footage so it’ll be something very simple or I’ll try to use my friends laptop for it. But yeah, footage from California and Blizzcon 08 incoming. We still don’t have any real plans of what to expect or where to go apart from the convention center, but I’m sure we’ll manage. Both are watching Madventures to get a few pointers and tricks that we could maybe use. You don’t want to copy something that’s already made, but Madventures is the bomb, can’t go wrong there.

Also, it’s like 31 degrees in LA tomorrow, compared to the 15 and rain here, I’m going to love it. Get the shorts out again, sunglasses, go buy some cool shirts. Get some mohitos and head to Santa Monica Beach. Mmm..

Onevice return grows near

ViceVideo layout design

ViceVideo layout design

It’s been a while since I’ve done any real web stuff. And I’ve never actually made my own Wordpress theme. But I have searched and searched for a theme I could use for a video site for onevice.com but I just couldn’t find anything free and on a good lisence.

So a few days ago I started working on making one. Threw up a little layout in photoshop and asked around if anyone who knew stuff about html could make the base template, then for me to add the wordpress stuff to it. But I was too anxious to get it on it’s way, so just went ahead and did it. 4-5 hours later, I’d say I’m around 75% done with the html side, not really started on the wordpress side of it, but I at least have some plans and been reading up on it how it works.

The theme will be released to public too once it’s in the condition that it can be used by others too, some nice license like creative commons share-alike. In the mean time, the page up to this point is here and you can take a peek at the current progress.

Now it will feature for now integration with Vimeo, though yesterday (even though it was a bit delayed) I was shocked with some of their announcements. But I won’t post about it here, since I wanted to make a bigger article on it on OneVice, as that page needs content too, heh, and it will be more to the point.
