First off, having friends is nice, innit? They look out for you, have your back and make sure to wake you up if you fall asleep in the shuttle so you don’t have to walk from Versailles when the bus is already back to it’s depot. Right? Right?

Yeah, anyway. I got some free money in my mailbox when I got home. Free American Express! Woot.

No, wait. It’s not real. Curses. I have to settle with my mastercard and visa then. Fine.

(Poor bus driver almost had a heart attack when I went to ask him to stop so I can get out.)

Curse these kids and their hula hoops and electricity. Someone has their vinyl’s up a bit too loud in my neighbourhood. I’m not sure if they are watching a movie or just listening to their transistor radio, but that opera is driving me crazy. All I wanna do is watch the Entourage season premiere in peace.

And as the fall season line up is lining up, it also means that summer is over. And boy, I can feel it. Now it doesn’t get too cold in France compared to Finland for example, but still c’mon. Ever heard of even double paned windows? I live on the ground floor, it gets pretty cold during the night already. And not to forget, I have central heating and what that means is that I have no control over it. Stop saving electricity and give me more heat up in this bitch. And the little “drains” in the windows for the water to go outside when you wash it (I live alone, I have no woman to wash them) literally blow cold air inside. God damn it France, again, get into the 21st century now, please.

also.. it’s under a month now..

It’s getting to be hard to keep track of your online life and what the output is of what you do.

Well, maybe that’s a bit too big of a statement now that I think of it, you could study a persons online footprint and make a thesis or two hundred of it. Although many of those seem to just be concentrating on how bad they are and how to remove bad stuff about you on the web.

Anyway, what I mean is that I haven’t even redone my other pages yet, and already I can’t keep track of what a single post does. Whether this is a good or a bad thing, I don’t know.

  1. I make a post on Onevice.com (which is still sort of not there). That sends out the normal blog type of stuff, RSS feeds, pings to technorati and all that type of stuff.
  2. Through a plugin, posting an article sends a twitter using my feed, that goes to the sphere of a grand total of X people, not that I’m that important, but you could imagine that I’m someone famous and purrdy like Felicia Day for example and hundreds or thousands of people see that, tell their friends and spread it.
  3. Facebook captures my tweet and sets it as my current status, that being seen by my friends and the other few hundred acquaintances that are listed as friends.
  4. Facebook also directly imports the full post from said RSS feed and posts it as a note on my profile.
  5. As I’m vain and have subscribed to my own blog on Google Reader (just to keep an eye out what it looks like) I share this post with all my contacts on gmail who are able to chat to me.
  6. RSS feed goes into a sidebar box on all the other blog type pages I have and as a kicker, if incorrectly configured, they will be counted as a post on that other blog, and get published all over again now through that site.
  7. If you make a link to someone elses blog, or rather a post specifically, you send a ping or trackback or something or other to their blog comments and all their users get to read it too. Here, let me prove my point: Mike’s blog - tadaa

Now you have to start to be careful in what order you want to do something. And all the configurations of various systems and plugins not to create an infinite loop and while these systems are usually protected from being spammed, at least cause some problems.

And then there is the talk of having Data portability (and also check out the actual site, Dataportability.org) where you can take your material, created content, documents, your identity and profile and transfer that across multiple platforms like facebook and google and myspace and vimeo and .. the list goes on. Perhaps there are 15 good sites that create an alphabetical list of everyone using the internet. And by clicking that, all that content and infromation you have made and posted, or someone linked you into is available for you.

Perhaps that will be the day when all that is automated, and like in my example it’s already possible today with 3rd party plugins and API’s and a bit of good old fashioned elbow grease. Plus for now you sort of get to control what’s out there, at least for your own part.

As always I’m starting to lose the thread. I have an idea I wanna write about, start looking for the websites I saw and then end up surfing and most post fizzles down. And to top it all, looking at the videos from Data Portability now in the end, it just lists everything I did. I guess there’s nothing more to it then than to just add the video here and get on with it.

oh and 8. After making sure that all my data nd my heart and soul I put together and made sure you can access it in 10 different ways, none of my friends actually read it, and I have to explain it to them face to face or msn.

Yes, I tried it. Yes, I really like it. Not going to make a big fuss about it, there are plenty of links you can go to and read about it.

What I will say, is that until I can get adblock, I will not move over. Once that is there, firefox for me is in grave danger. I know it sounds dramatic, but I’m an early adopter, especially with software that’s free as in beer or just “free” if you know where to get it. I move fairly quickly from one thing to another leaving forgotten passwords and expiring accounts in my wake. Now why are none of my friends using twitter?

Hotel California (yea I know, wah wah waaah)

So, here I am, minding my own business, chatting away with friends and having an awesome evening. Then I get an email from Agoda, the hotel I booked is apparently full, even though it said rooms available when I booked it.

We regret to inform that your requested room at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel, Anaheim (CA) (Standard) is fully booked during the period you have selected.
Our system has been able to identify alternative hotels which have rooms available for the full period of your proposed stay at the time of sending this email:

Hi I'm Drake, Where Do You Want To Go Today

And then list a few different ones, all somehow assuming that me and my friend wanna cuddle in a single bed. So what to do, it’s been almost a week since the last one, it’s not going to get any easier to find a vacancy now. So I go to their site and look up some stuff, and then I remembered that they offered a live chat assistance service, so I tried that.

Got a response from Drake 10 seconds after the page was loaded and he fixed it. Everything. He searched for hotels around the area I wanted, found a really sweet deal, even answered my stupid questions if ‘Twin bed’ does actually mean it’s two separate beds. :p

In the end, as I had already been billed for the last room, and this one was even cheaper, I’ll get the difference back. And the dollar has gone up slightly since I booked the first room, I made money in this!! No.. Wait…

Anyway the trip is still on and I highly recommend Agoda.com for anyone looking to book hotels around the world, the site is even available in like 15 languages. (also, see Kayak.com for plane tickets)

Drake: Is there anything else I can help you with?
Pinkkis: Can I haev full T6 and 5k gold plx?

( I didn’t actually say that :p )

TVWeek - Searching for Web Video’s “Seinfeld”

Searching for Web Video’s ‘Seinfeld’ - TVWeek - News.

Ran across that page through the revision3 blog, the network also mentioned in theTVWeek article. Now I must admit that like some of the comments there say, it is quite the puff piece.

However, I’m a major fan of Revision3 and it’s shows like Diggnation and Totally Rad Show and finding a little list of other sites, or should we say networks, like that is awesome.

I’ll spend a bit of time going through what they have to offer, but I have a feeling that since they don’t have Alex Albrecht in them then it’s not really a competition.

BOM!

"can I build a nuclear submarine?" "be my guest, hah! 'he's so childish, where's he gonna put it'"

I really think this comic should come out in english. Finland seems to be really big recently in finally pushing artists of all types to go out into the world and make us famous. It doesn’t need to be just HIM and The Rasmus and Kimi. Why not this? It’s the type of comedy that would probably translate well into most of the western world, and if you remove the few strips where there’s nudity, you could sell it to kids in the Americas too.

I just came to think of it, I was reading them while having an msn conversation with somone who doesn’t read finnish. I was giggling and then just like a reflex I pasted him the link. Then blinked a few times and quickly translated it to him. I admit, the comic strip is quirky and finnish humoer is quirky, but a few of them were really funny.

It MAKES.SENSE. Do it Juba!

Make your voices heard people! We need Wagner in English!!

(unless of course it already is and I just didn’t know about it :D )
